(THE ONLY FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION I STILL GET.)
Q: So - about that painted couch - How is it holding up? Would you do it again? Will it work on my piece of furniture?
A: I am only slightly ashamed to admit that another coat of paint has been added to the painted couch. The black was holding up great, I just decided that the 'funeral chic' vibe it had was no longer my jam. Also, I may have had PMS and didn't think the whole thing through. This time, I used regular ol' latex house paint and no paint conditioner. I have to say, its still holding up just fine (it was about 3 years ago for the second painting - the first was in 2011!) I don't even know if the additive was completely necessary the first time around. It still feels like a soft, slightly stiff t-shirt screen print. If you look really closely, you can see that the paint is starting to wear off of the front of the middle cushion. All-in-all, I would definitely do it again. I still get emails all of the time asking if I would opine on if this would work for specific situations. But sadly, I have no idea. Use your best judgement and PLEASE don't paint an heirloom piece!
